ANNOUNCEMENTS 9-27-09

Monday- Practice from 4:00-6:30. Players to pick up their picture packets for football photos.

Tuesday- Study Hall from 3:45-4:30. Boys must bring all classwork and BOOKS (very important!) Coach Ralph is communicating with teachers to find out if players are falling behind in their studies. PRACTICE 5:00-7:30

Wednesday- Practice from 4:00-6:00. Players, please wear shorts, helmets, and shoulder pads.

Thursday- GAME DAY at Valley Center High School. We are only releasing the freshman football team early from school for their game at 4:30.Freshman Football Team – They will be released from class at 1:45. The bus will leave at 2:00.

Freshmen play at 4:30 and will leave Valley Center for home just after half time of the JV game (sometime around 8:30).

JV play at 7:00 and will return home After the completion of their game.

(Send your boys with some snacks and something to drink)

Friday- Pictures from 3:45-5:00. Players, please wear your blue game jerseys and blue game pants.

Snack Bar Success!!

A big THANK YOU to all the helpers in the snack bar last night!! Thank you to the gals who worked during the freshman game for letting my little helper be yours too. Sydney loved "helping the girls". Thank you so much to the parents who came in for the JV game and let me and my little helper go home to bed. If you had any problems, or have any suggestions for next time please let me know. Don't forget that next weeks game is on Thursday, and the next home game when we'll have the snack bar again is the following Thursday. If you're up for more snacky fun we'd love to have you! If your friends ask what you do for fun on thursday and friday nights tell them they can come and work the snack bar with you!!

We still need people to help with sales at the snack bar during the freshman game. The game starts at 4:30 so if you can show up around 4:10-4:15 that would be great!

GAME WEEK

Monday Practice- JV and Freshmen on the field at 3:45 for early outs. Practice over at 6:30

Wednesday Practice- 4:00-6:30 Concession stand will be open from 5:30-6:30 for parents to buy DN Football Gear (cash or check only).

Thursday Practice- 4:00-6:00 Team dinner to follow from 6:00-7:00

Friday- GAME DAY vs. Escondido High School Freshmen game at 4:30 JV game at 7:00

Saturday Practice- 9:00-11:00

If there are any parents interested in helping out at the snack bar on Friday night, please email nighthawkfootball@yahoo.com. We need 8 parents for Freshmen game and 8 parents for JV game. Please let us know by Wednesday night if you are able to help out.

Football Merchandise Sale Today at Practice

We will open the concession stand at practice today and every Wednesday to sell the football clothing. Yesterday's study hall and late practice was a huge success. The boys loved the time to study and we have decided to do a late practice every Tuesday and continue the study halls.

FIRST VICTORY IN DEL NORTE HISTORY

The Freshman Del Norte Football Team defeated the Division 1 Power House Ranch Buena Vista Longhorn Team 20 - 7 on Thursday for the first of many Nighthawk victories. Ranch Buena Vista scored on a long run the second play of the game to lead 7 - 0. But the Nighthawks responded with a 64 yard touchdown pass from Steven Xirinachs to Tevin on a beautiful screen pass. After that it was all Nighthawks in a over officiated penalty plagued game. What a great start for the freshman team and our football program. The RBV coaches were full of compliments for both the freshman and JV teams.

In the nightcap, The JV team fell behind 27 - 0 to a powerful RBV team and suddenly in the 3rd quarter found themselves new life and rallied with two exciting touchdowns and two point conversions. The final score was 27-16 and the RBV team could not get anything going again against the inspired defense led by Clarence De Leon at linebacker.
This was a great effort by the team and coaches to improve dramatically in one week. We had another huge crowd follow us to Vista to support the boys. The crowd and parents were so enthusiastic at the huge turnaround the team had in the game.

BYE WEEK - No game this week

Tuesday is Back to school night for parents to meet teachers... we will have a late practice.
